Job summary

Referment is seeking a Senior Virtualization and Storage Engineer to own mature production platforms and drive next-generation evolution through evaluation, PoC work and carefully planned migrations.

You’ll combine operational responsibility with long-range technical design across virtualization, storage and automation, ensuring reliability while leading complex platform evolution.

Qualifications

• At least ten years of hands-on experience building and supporting server virtualization in production.
• Deep expertise in VMware, Hyper‑V or a KVM‑based platform; experience across more than one is valuable.
• Enterprise storage and SAN experience, including storage protocols and at least one software‑defined storage platform.
• Python and PowerShell programming experience.
• The judgement to evaluate platform change driven by hardware, cost or vendor considerations.
• Strong communication, organisation and independent delivery skills.
• A computer science or related technical degree is preferred rather than essential.

This senior individual-contributor role will own mature production platforms while shaping their next generation through evaluation, proof-of-concept work and carefully planned migration.
You’ll combine operational responsibility with long-range technical design, working across virtualization, enterprise storage and automation. The opportunity is particularly suited to an engineer who can keep critical services reliable while leading complex platform evolution.
