Job summary

TelevisaUnivision is seeking a senior streaming infra engineer in Miami to design and scale the media infrastructure that powers live and on‑demand video experiences. You will architect and optimize systems spanning transcoding, packaging, DRM, and delivery with a focus on low latency and reliability.

You will deploy and operate Kubernetes-based pipelines, service meshes, and edge compute across GCP and AWS, ensuring high availability and SLA adherence while collaborating across teams to advance

Qualifications

• Proven experience designing, deploying and operating streaming infrastructure.
• Strong knowledge of video streaming protocols (HLS, DASH, CMAF).
• Expertise with Kubernetes, Envoy and microservices.
• Experience with DRM systems (Widevine, FairPlay, PlayReady) preferred.
• CI/CD and infrastructure as code with Pulumi or similar tools.

Responsibilities

This role sits at the intersection of site reliability engineering, DevOps, and media workflows, with a strong focus on video delivery systems and streaming technologies.You will play a critical role in architecting and evolving our media infrastructure, leveraging both open-source and proprietary technologies to support live and on-demand streaming at scale.ABOUT YOU:You bring deep expertise in building and scaling media and streaming infrastructure. You are passionate about solving complex distributed systems challenges and have a strong understanding of video streaming technologies, cloud platforms, and modern DevOps practices.You thrive in highly technical environments, enjoy working across teams, and are motivated to build resilient, high-performance systems that deliver seamless playback experiences to global audiences.YOUR DAY-DAY: (aka Responsibilities)· Design, architect, and implement scalable streaming infrastructure using both open-source and proprietary technologies· Build and optimize systems including:o Video transcoding pipelineso Just-in-time (JIT) packagingo Rights and entitlements management systemso CDN caching strategies for VOD and live streaming deliveryo Server-side ad insertion (SSAI)o Service mesh architectures (Envoy)· Develop and manage cloud infrastructure using infrastructure as code across platforms such as GCP and AWS· Build, operate, and scale containerized media workflows on Kubernetes· Leverage serverless technologies including edge compute, Cloud Run, and Cloud Functions· Define and implement high availability, scalability, and disaster recovery strategies aligned with SLAs· Manage automation and orchestration platforms supporting production servicesYOU HAVE: (Qualifications, Experience)Strong programming skills in Python and/or JavaScript or RustAdvanced expertise designing, deploying, and operating systems on KubernetesExperience implementing Envoy within complex microservices architecturesProficiency in CDN configuration and optimization, including VCL scripting (e.g., Fastly)Deep knowledge of streaming protocols and formats, including:HLS, DASH, CMAFLow-latency streaming (LL-HLS, LL-DASH)Experience with ad stitching and dynamic ad insertion, including integrations with Google Ad Manager (GAM)Hands-on experience implementing and managing DRM systems, including:SPEKE v1/v2FairPlay, Widevine, PlayReadyContent encryption and protection mechanismsCertified Widevine Implementation Partner (CWIP) certification required.
