Our immediate need is for a Senior Producer on the afternoon/evening shift. However, this candidate should have the flexibility to work on all shifts and possibly weekends and occasional overtime as news events require.

Our preference is candidates who are near Los Angeles, Washington D.C., Atlanta, or New York City, but remote workers in all states except for Alaska and Hawaii will be considered.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and execute all aspects of video production including writing, researching, planning, coordinating logistics, technical production, script approval, and video editing.

  • Lead story curation at the national level.
  • Create and manage connections across the USA TODAY Network of reporters, writers, producers, editors, and digital managers, to coordinate requests and ideas.
  • Track video performance metrics for on-platform, mobile, and app video view reporting on a daily, monthly, and as needed basis.
  • Ensure the team is following best practices.
  • Train, onboard, and supervise staff.
  • Ensure video content drives a variety of revenue opportunities across multiple platforms including on-platform, syndication, and social.
  • Handle other essential tasks as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in communications, journalism, or a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 8+ years of professional experience, including producing experience and 3-5 years of digital experience. 3-4 years of leadership/management experience.
  • Strong editorial experience.
  • Experience working in a newsroom and handling breaking news.
  • Understanding of digital media platforms, OTT platforms, and social media including YouTube, Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, and TikTok.

  • Experience implementing SEO best practices and writing metadata for videos.
  • Strong leadership skills and ability to manage employees.
  • Writing and producing skills for digital and social video platforms.
  • Understanding of web technology, CMS systems, digital video, digital audio, live streaming, video editing, and web analytics.
