We are a boutique creative studio helping ambitious technology companies tell stories that move their businesses forward. We partner with startups and established technology leaders to create launch films, customer stories, brand films, podcasts, recruiting content, and other narrative-driven work. Our core team leads strategy, creative, and production, then assembles world-class freelance teams around each project.
We are looking for our first full-time hire: an Executive Producer / Lead Producer who can take ownership of the operational and client side of the business and help us build the systems required for our next stage of growth.
The Role
You will be the person who makes sure great work actually gets made. Once a project begins taking shape, you will own the path from proposal through final delivery: building budgets and timelines, coordinating clients, assembling freelance teams, keeping projects on track, and making sure everyone involved has an exceptional experience.
You will work closely with the founder on proposals and project strategy. This is not a role for someone who just updates project trackers. We are looking for someone who takes ownership, anticipates problems before they happen, communicates exceptionally well, and can bring order to a fast-moving creative environment.
Key Responsibilities
1. Project Management & Operations
- Own the operational health of every studio project from kickoff through final delivery.
- Build and maintain project budgets, scopes, and timelines.
- Turn creative ideas and client conversations into executable production plans.
- Assemble proposals and scopes of work alongside the founder.
- Track project costs and protect margins throughout production.
- Manage multiple concurrent projects, keeping clients, creatives, crew, and post-production aligned on deadlines.
- Identify risks, scope changes, and potential overages before they become problems.
- Continuously improve our production systems, templates, and workflows.
2. Client Communication & Success
- Serve as the trusted day-to-day point of contact for clients once projects are underway.
- Run kickoffs, production meetings, status updates, and feedback conversations.
- Set clear expectations around timelines, deliverables, and responsibilities.
- Make working with our studio feel organized, proactive, and low-lift.
- Navigate difficult conversations around scope, timelines, and feedback with polish and confidence.
- Develop strong relationships with clients and identify opportunities for ongoing partnerships.
- Ensure every client finishes a project eager to work with us again.
3. Freelance & Contractor Management
- Manage and expand the network that allows the studio to scale without sacrificing quality.
- Source, vet, book, and manage freelance crews and creative partners.
- Build relationships with trusted producers, DPs, camera teams, G&E, sound, art department, editors, animators, colorists, and other specialists.
- Negotiate rates and manage contractor budgets.
- Match the right team to the creative and logistical needs of each project.
- Maintain a strong roster of talent across major production markets (including the SF Bay Area).
- Ensure contractors thoroughly understand our standards and expectations.
What We're Looking For
We are less concerned with a specific number of years than with clear evidence that you have successfully owned complex creative projects.
You will likely be a strong fit if you:
- Have significant experience producing video, advertising, branded content, or creative agency work.
- Have managed meaningful production budgets and deeply understand where production costs come from.
- Are excellent with clients and comfortable communicating with tech founders and senior marketing leaders.
- Can manage several projects simultaneously without losing track of details.
- Have direct experience hiring and managing freelance creative teams and production crews.
- Understand the end-to-end production process from pre-production through post-production.
- Are comfortable building scopes, budgets, and proposals.
- Possess strong judgment and know when an issue requires founder intervention.
- Are exceptionally organized, detail-oriented, and care deeply about the quality of the final output.
What Success Looks Like
Within your first six months:
- Every active project has a clear owner, budget, timeline, and actionable next step.
- Clients trust you completely and come directly to you for project updates and execution.
- Freelancers and vendors are organized, thoroughly briefed, and aligned on standards.
- Project margins are clear, visible, and actively managed throughout production.
- The studio has a stronger, more organized network of trusted freelance talent.
- The founder is spending dramatically less time coordinating projects and significantly more time on creative direction, strategy, key client relationships, and business growth.
- You are running the studio's daily production operations with full autonomy.
How We Work
The studio is based in the San Francisco Bay Area. This is a fully remote role with flexibility around working hours. We are building a small team of unusually capable people who care about storytelling, take complete ownership of their work, and do not need layers of management to get things done.
