Job summary

Business Insider is seeking a senior videographer and editor for So Expensive, a flagship video series. You will shoot as needed, edit episodes from start to finish, source footage, and shape narratives with producers to deliver compelling YouTube journalism.

Based in New York, this role requires three on-site days per week and is union-eligible. The ideal candidate will have documentary or journalist video experience, strong storytelling, and proficiency in the Adobe Creative Suite, including

Qualifications

• Excellent organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines with multiple edits each quarter.
• Proficient in the Adobe Creative Suite, including Premiere (After Effects a plus).
• Experience in documentary or journalistic video production.
• Strong storytelling judgment to elevate narrative structure and viewer engagement.
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
• Commitment to accuracy, fairness, and journalistic standards.
• Experience shooting with professional Canon and Sony cameras is a plus.
• Proven track record of finding visual source material to elevate a story.

Responsibilities

• Edit So Expensive episodes from start to finish while meeting tight production deadlines.
• Craft episodes for maximum impact and audience retention, deciding pacing, music, and scene-building.
• Help maintain efficient, scalable editing workflows and best practices for the team.
• Collaborate with producers, animators, and managers to deliver high-quality video journalism for YouTube and other platforms.
