Job summary

Clayton County, Georgia's Solicitor General's Office is seeking a Senior Victim Services Officer to develop, coordinate and implement victim advocacy programs. You will support victims of domestic violence, assaults, DUI cases, theft, and sexual assault, coordinating resources across county, state and private partners.

As a senior member with limited supervision, you will screen cases, contact victims, explain rights and processes, accompany victims to interviews and trials, and maintain contact

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university or minimum five (5) years experience in criminal justice processes.

Responsibilities

• Screens all incoming cases to determine if they are covered under the Victim’s Rights Act.
• Locates and initiates contact with the victim; determines appropriate method of contact after review of the case.
• Provides victim information concerning rights available; advises victims on invocation of rights.
• Assist in administration and coordination of the Victim Services Program.
• Explain investigative, preparatory, pretrial, trial, sentencing, and appellate phases of cases to victims.
• Accompany victims to interviews with police and office personnel and to trials.
• Communicate with the victim about the status of the case.
• Create and maintain contacts and referrals to resources at governmental, community, and private levels.
• Provide information concerning office policies relevant to different case types.
• Assist with Victim Impact Statements and acclimate victims to the criminal justice system.
