Job summary

ICE in the Department of Homeland Security seeks a Victim Assistance Specialist (GS-13) to provide mandated services to crime victims, coordinate with DOJ components and local officials, and join victim assistance networks.

At full performance level GS-13, you will liaise with U.S. Attorney Victim-Witness Coordinators, establish contacts with community organizations, and support transition of victim assistance after indictment.

Qualifications

• Degree in behavioral or social science or related disciplines appropriate to the position.
• Combination of education and experience that provided knowledge of behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.
• Four years of appropriate experience demonstrating knowledge of behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.

Responsibilities

• Assist agents on scene to provide mandated services, referrals, crisis mitigation, and information to crime victims.
• Establish liaison with field offices, DOJ components, and federal/state/local officials and NGOs regarding victim assistance.
• Coordinate with the U.S. Attorney Victim-Witness Coordinator to transition victim assistance after indictment.
• Participate in local, regional, and statewide victim assistance networks and centers.
