Organization Overview
Planned Parenthood is the nation’s leading provider and advocate of high-quality, affordable sexual and reproductive health care for all people, and the largest provider of sex education in the United States. Through a nationwide network of health centers, educational programs, community partnerships, and digital resources, Planned Parenthood organizations serve millions of people each year with care and compassion, with respect, and without judgment. The organization is committed to advancing health equity and ensuring that all people have access to the information and care they need to make informed decisions about their health and lives.

Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA), a 501(c)(3) charitable organization, serves as the national office for a network of independently incorporated Planned Parenthood affiliates that operate nonprofit health centers and deliver education and outreach programs across the country. PPFA provides strategic leadership, operational support, advocacy, public education, and national programs that advance the organization's mission and strengthen the impact of the affiliate network.

Planned Parenthood Action Fund, a separate nonprofit membership 501(c)(4) organization, serves as the advocacy and political arm of the movement. The Action Fund engages in public education, legislative advocacy, grassroots organizing, voter engagement, and electoral activities in support of policies that protect and expand access to sexual and reproductive health care and rights.

Context for Recruitment & Position Summary
Planned Parenthood Federation of America and Planned Parenthood Action Fund seek a dynamic and data-driven Senior Vice President of Development Data, Operations, and Technology (SVP). As a core member of Development’s Senior Leadership team, the SVP reports to Chief Development Officer (CDO) Leora Hanser in the Development division of PPFA. This role is the backbone of Planned Parenthood’s philanthropic efforts, ensuring that the infrastructure supporting PPFA’s fundraising is robust, efficient, scalable, and best-in-class. The SVP provides the strategic roadmap for the foundational systems, data architecture, and insights that empower fundraising strategy and builds a cohesive development operations function in service of the National Office and Federation fundraising goals.

The SVP is a newly created role reflecting the prioritization of development data, operations, and technology as a suite of strategic functions – above and beyond process alone – to drive decision-making and optimize fundraising. They have accountability for the following: development technology strategy, development data governance, CRM administration and optimization, fundraising analytics and business intelligence, prospect research and prospect management, revenue operations and gift processing, development reporting, development technology vendor strategy, and the development systems roadmap and investment priorities. The SVP leads a team of approximately 62 professionals. This leader will join Planned Parenthood as it reimagines its development program and consolidates operations and technology functions – once dispersed across multiple fundraising channels – within the National Office. Desired outcomes include improved data quality and governance, increased fundraising efficiency, improved reporting timeliness, reduced manual processing, increased fundraiser adoption of tools, improved donor retention and conversion insights, and strong service-level performance. The SVP is a key thought partner to the CDO in enhancing Planned Parenthood’s philanthropic impact, ensuring that data-informed strategies are leveraged for all fundraising channels.

Candidate Profile
PPFA will consider a broad range of backgrounds. The ideal candidate will align with the following qualifications:

  • A deep commitment to Planned Parenthood’s mission and to an inclusive and equitable work environment.
  • Minimum 20 years of experience in fundraising operations, with at least eight years in a senior leadership role within a large, complex nonprofit; experience working in federated, multi-entity, membership, affiliate, or similarly complex organizational structures strongly preferred.
  • Proven track record of managing large-scale organizational change and process improvement initiatives; experience leading enterprise system implementations, CRM transformations, data modernization initiatives, and organizational redesign efforts.
  • Exceptional ability to translate complex data sets into actionable fundraising strategies and clear executive-level reporting.
  • Leadership experience in master data management, data governance, data operations, data privacy and compliance reporting.
  • Deep expertise in complex marketing or fundraising technical stacks, including the following: CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce), data warehouses, customer data platforms, digital marketing platforms, business intelligence tools, payment processors, and the integration of third-party fundraising platforms.
  • Strong ability to build alliances with peer leaders and navigate the needs of business units like finance and legal.
  • A ‘systems thinker’ with a relentless focus on streamlining workflows and establishing rigorous operational standards.
  • A commitment to providing exceptional internal service delivery, viewing the Development Data Operations and Technology team as partners in the success of the frontline fundraisers.
  • A proven track record of leading with empathy when leading change, while navigating challenging or high‑pressure organizational dynamics.
  • Ability to lead a diverse team of passionate fundraising operations professionals and developing talent.
  • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree in business, information systems, or nonprofit management preferred.
