Job summary
Arizona Humane Society seeks a full-time Lead Veterinarian for our Sunnyslope Veterinary Clinic in Phoenix. The role combines clinical leadership with hands-on medical care, mentoring veterinarians, students and staff while delivering high-quality care to animals and supporting the community we serve.
The ideal candidate has a DVM/VMD, five years of clinical experience with surgery, and a strong commitment to evidence-based medicine.
Qualifications
- DVM or VMD degree required.
- Arizona veterinary license or ability to obtain one.
- DEA license or ability to obtain.
- Minimum five years of clinical experience with surgery and general practice.
- Shelter medicine or high-volume spay/neuter experience a plus.
Responsibilities
- Lead clinical care and supervise the medical team across hospital operations.
- Mentor veterinarians, veterinary students, externs, and support staff.
- Perform wellness, illness evaluations, diagnostics, treatments, vaccinations and surgeries.
- Oversee high-volume spay/neuter and ensure accurate medical records.
- Collaborate with leadership to develop medical protocols and quality improvements.
