Job summary

Blue Bird Corporation in Michigan is seeking a Senior Requirements & Systems Engineer to define system-level architecture, requirements, and integration strategy across vehicle platforms. You will translate customer, regulatory, and business needs into actionable engineering requirements and frameworks in a fast-moving environment.

This role demands hands-on technical leadership, ability to create structure from ambiguity, and collaboration with engineering, manufacturing, quality, and suppliers

Qualifications

• 4+ years of hands-on experience in automotive systems development, integration, and validation.
• Experience in vehicle architecture, integration, or chassis systems.
• Familiarity with vehicle communication networks (CAN, LIN, Automotive Ethernet).
• Proficiency with MBSE tools and requirements management.

Responsibilities

• Define vehicle-level architecture and manage system requirements across domains.
• Create, refine and manage product/system requirements.
• Develop and maintain Interface Control Documents (ICDs) across subsystems.
• Drive cross-system integration across mechanical, electrical, software and controls domains.
• Establish traceability from customer needs to validation activities using tools like JIRA and DOORS.
• Lead trade-off discussions on performance, weight, cost and manufacturability.
• Provide cross-functional technical leadership across engineering, manufacturing and suppliers.
• Support integration of new vehicle platforms and propulsion systems into scalable architectures.
• Lead investigation and resolution of cross-functional issues in electrical and controls.
• Ensure regulatory and safety compliance for vehicle systems.
• Help establish scalable engineering processes and frameworks.
