Job summary

Lucid Motors in Phoenix is seeking a Senior Controls Engineer for Vehicle Body and Access Systems. You will own end‑to‑end access control features and ECU integration, working across cross‑functional teams to deliver robust body electronics software.

You will apply model‑based design in MATLAB/Simulink, Kalman filtering, and advanced control strategies to ensure safety and performance in electric vehicles. Strong collaboration with simulation and hardware teams is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree (or higher) in computer engineering, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, automotive systems, or related technical fields is required.
• 4+ years of experience with automotive control systems and knowledge of advanced control algorithms; experience with vehicle access/ingress/egress control features and RF/BLE/UWB technologies is a plus.
• Expert knowledge of model‑based design using Matlab/Simulink/Stateflow.
• Expert understanding of Automatic Control Systems, with a firm grasp of classical control theory tools like compensator design, Kalman Filtering, and PID tuning.
• Proficiency in C/C++ and integration into embedded ECUs.
• Experience with industry standard development tools such as JAMA/JIRA/Git/Confluence.
• Experience working with cross‑functional teams; strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop control systems for vehicle access control features; includes lock/unlock, access device authentication, and localization algorithms.
• Develop requirements and test cases for access control features modeled in Matlab/Simulink.
• Collaborate with simulation engineers to improve models and analysis of access control and localization algorithms.
• Assist in integrating features into the controller codebase and calibrate in-vehicle software.
• Support FMEA for features to comply with ISO 26262; develop diagnostics and interfaces across ECUs.
