Job summary

Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a Systems Engineer (VDI) in Newington, VA to support a DoD customer. This senior role focuses on design, administration, optimization, and security of a large-scale Virtual Desktop Infrastructure.

The ideal candidate will have Omnissa Horizon expertise on VMware vSphere, strong PowerShell automation, and experience with DISA STIG compliance, GPO management, and thin-client ecosystems like Dell Wyse.

Qualifications

• Active TS/SCI clearance required.
• Bachelor’s degree.
• 8+ years of systems engineering or related experience.
• Current CompTIA Security+ certification required.
• Hands-on experience supporting Omnissa Horizon hosted on VMware vSphere.
• Experience managing thin-client environments, including Dell Wyse or similar platforms.
• Strong PowerShell scripting and automation skills.
• Knowledge of Group Policy (GPO) management within VDI environments.
• Familiarity with DISA STIG compliance requirements.
• Experience with VDI monitoring and performance management tools.

Responsibilities

• Build, update, test, and deploy VDI master images and desktop pools.
• Manage thin-client devices and endpoint configurations using enterprise management platforms.
• Support profile management solutions to provide a seamless and reliable end-user experience.
• Develop and maintain PowerShell automation scripts to improve operational efficiency.
• Perform pre-production testing and validation of VDI image updates, patches, configuration changes, and monitor VDI performance.
• Ensure VDI environments comply with DoD security requirements, including DISA STIG implementation.
• Collaborate with systems, network, cybersecurity, and customer teams to support mission objectives.
