Job summary

The Weitz Company in San Marcos, TX is seeking a Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) Engineer to lead BIM coordination and 4D modeling on data center projects. You will create 3D/4D models, develop workflows, and support field teams with on-site engineering and RFI responses.

This role requires strong technical problem-solving and collaboration with preconstruction and operations teams. Experience in VDC, NEC code knowledge, and data center projects is highly valued; LEAN exposure is a plus.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years in a construction role supporting VDC
• Knowledge of NEC code
• LEAN principles experience is desirable
• Data center experience strongly preferred

Responsibilities

• Prepare Electrical Shop, DFI, and DFMA drawings
• Provide quantity takeoff, BOM and schedules from BIM/3D models
• Create streamlined workflows with preconstruction and field teams
• Assist with execution plans, takeoffs, constructability coordination, RFIs and scheduling
• Lead clash resolution and coordination meetings through completion
• Facilitate problem solving using technology with project teams
• Provide onsite project engineering for BIM projects and monitor field installation
• Create 3D/4D models, renderings, simulations for presentations and construction ops
• Create and maintain training materials with L&D team
• Research, test, and implement new software/hardware
• Support company goals by identifying improvements with management
• Assist in creating and maintaining VDC standards
• Compute metrics for management review and propose improvements
• Provide technical support to PMs onsite and ensure BIM docs current
• Create virtual simulations to validate site logistics, safety sequencing, scheduling, VR/AR
• Keep abreast of latest software and technology
