Job summary

ISOutsource is seeking an experienced vCISO to lead strategic cybersecurity initiatives for clients across the Western United States. You will guide governance, risk management, and compliance programs while shaping roadmaps and security posture at the executive level.

The role requires strong consulting skills, deep knowledge of frameworks like NIST, HIPAA, PCI DSS, SOC 2, and the ability to translate complex risks into boardroom recommendations. Some travel to client sites is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a technology field required.
• Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in cybersecurity, risk management, compliance, security operations, or IT leadership.
• CISSP, CISM, CRISC, CISA, CGRC or equivalent certifications preferred.
• Some local travel to client sites; valid driver's license required.

Responsibilities

• Provide executive-level cybersecurity consulting and strategic guidance to clients.
• Develop and manage cybersecurity roadmaps, programs, and ISMS.
• Lead governance, risk assessments, gap analyses, risk registers, and remediation priorities.
• Guide on regulatory and framework requirements (NIST CSF, 800-53/171, CIS, CMMC, HIPAA, PCI DSS, SOC 2).
• Support audit readiness, compliance assessments, and attestations.
• Advise on vulnerability management and third-party risk.
• Lead incident response planning and tabletop exercises.
• Present cybersecurity updates and risk prioritization to client leadership.
• Partner with internal and client teams to turn strategy into action.
