Job summary

AppFolio is seeking a Senior UX Designer to own identity and access management experiences across our platform. You’ll shape sign-in, authentication flows, and role-based access used by customers’ users, building a foundation other product teams rely on.

You’ll apply strong systems thinking, collaborate across product and engineering, and mentor teammates while advancing a security-aware design approach in a hybrid work environment.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience designing UX or product design in security-sensitive areas.
• Experience designing security-sensitive, trust-critical, or infrastructure-level product areas (identity, authentication, account management).
• Strong collaboration with product and engineering partners.
• Portfolio or work samples showing rigor in complex, constraint-heavy problem spaces.

Responsibilities

• Design internal tools and patterns for identity and permissions across the platform.
• Own end-to-end design of authentication and account permissions, including login and passkeys.
• Collaborate with product teams to align work with user and business goals.
• Base design decisions on research and data, knowing when to gather evidence.
• Deeply understand and contribute to the design system and its application.
• Present work clearly to teams and stakeholders, and mentor teammates.
