Job summary

NRG Energy seeks a Principal UX Designer to lead end-to-end user experiences across the Vivint smart home ecosystem. You will translate complex AI-enabled, multi-device interactions into simple, intuitive interfaces and guide design strategy across mobile apps, panels, and ambient devices.

As a senior contributor, you will own the design framework, mentor teams, partner with engineering, and push for proactive, measurable improvements through usability testing and telemetry.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of UX design, interaction design, or product design experience.

Responsibilities

• Define, execute, and scale multi-year UX strategy across Vivint touchpoints (mobile, panels, ambient).
• Champion a unified design language system for cohesive integrations.
• Architect complex interaction models bridging physical devices with real-time software.
• Pioneer AI/ML-driven UX patterns and design frictionless onboarding for third-party devices.
• Craft context-aware UI, smart notifications, and state-based interfaces for proactive home experiences.
• Deliver high-fidelity prototypes and collaborate with PMs on experiential mockups and roadmaps.
• Lead usability testing, telemetry coordination, and iterate designs from real-world data.
• Influence cross-functional teams, partner with engineering, and mentor the design community.
