Job summary

WSB, a design and consulting firm, seeks a Sr Solar PV Design Engineer to deliver construction-ready electrical designs for utility-scale PV systems (5-50MW and larger) and BESS projects. You will prepare layouts, perform analyses, and support permitting, bidding, and construction.

The role requires a PE license, a bachelor's in electrical engineering, and 5–7+ years of relevant experience in solar PV design, with strong AutoCAD and power system modeling skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related technical discipline.
• 5-7+ years experience designing utility-scale solar PV systems.
• Experience collaborating with construction, technical, and non-technical teams.
• PE license required.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD and power system design software.

Responsibilities

• Design and engineer utility-scale solar PV and energy storage (BESS) systems at 5-50MW or higher.
• System layout of modules and equipment.
• Equipment selection and specification development.
• One-line and three-line diagrams.
• DC, LVAC and MVAC cable sizing and routing.
• SCADA and communication system design.
• Relay & communication programming with SEL devices.
• Grounding system design.
• Wiring diagrams and basic pole design.
• Engineering studies including arc flash, coordination, grounding, and thermal ampacity.
