Qualifications

  • 10+ years in Utilities design and Infrastructure Engineering preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field required.

Position Overview

Kiewit Infrastructure Engineering's Design Build Management team drives clients to turn to Kiewit during all stages of design-build projects to manage their multi-disciplined design teams to improve schedule, control costs, and minimize risk. Our construction-driven engineers analyze root causes and resolve design issues before they impact schedule and budget. Clients benefit from the proven processes and tools used by Kiewit to minimize project risk. We are an in-house resource that supports projects throughout the company, sharing experiences gained, innovative concepts, and design best practices for all projects supported.

This position is based out of our Westlake, TX office

Responsibilities
  • Help manage a team of Utility Engineers locally.
  • Perform utility relocation conflict analysis on large infrastructure projects.
  • Participate in project or pursuit meetings, including those onsite when necessary.
  • Prepare Issued for Estimating (IFE) deliverable packets including conceptual relocation plans and spec packages. Participate in handoff meeting of IFE documents to estimating team.
  • Coordinate and oversee consultant design and SUE resources.
  • Review & comment on Utility Owner design submittals.
  • Facilitate constructability reviews with Utility Coordinator counterpart, ensuring designs are compatible with construction sequence and methods.
  • Provide input on Design Fee estimates for pursuits, coordinating with the cost estimating group.
  • Provide input on design and pre-construction schedule.
  • Perform Technical Risk Assessment for pursuits being evaluated; involves reading and interpreting contract documents, identifying risks, and recommending mitigation techniques.
  • Create & manage file structures for design working files, deliverables, and reference documents.
  • Understand and confirm all work is performed according to Kiewit standards.
  • Participate at required steps of Design Quality Management Plan; including but not limited to, IDR, checking, backchecking, verifying.
  • Interface with client and Utility Owner representatives.
Qualifications
  • 10+ years in Utilities design; Infrastructure Engineering and/or Design-build experience preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field.
  • Experienced use of Microstation, Projectwise, OpenRoads, AutoCAD.
  • Experienced with ASCE standard governance of Subsurface Utility Engineering.
  • Experience with a variety of design standards for water, sewer, gas, petroleum, electric, communications.
  • Experience with different construction techniques and constructability of Utilities and associated Civil aspects in Design-Build projects.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, with individuals at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and an ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team environment.
  • Ability to organize and handle multiple project assignments.
  • Ability to travel to assignments based on business needs.
  • Ability to freely access all points of a construction site in wide-ranging climates and environments.

  • Perform work safely and effectively. Understand and follow oral and written instructions, including warning signs, equipment use, and other policies.
  • Work during normal operating hours to organize and complete work within given deadlines. Work overtime and weekends as required.
  • May work at various different locations and conditions may vary.
