Job summary

Riot Games in Los Angeles is seeking a Senior Accessibility User Experience Designer to join the Central Product Accessibility team. You will shape accessible player experiences by collaborating with design and engineering to define requirements, reviews, and best practices.

You'll translate user insights into actionable design strategies and help train other designers on accessibility, ensuring games and web experiences meet WCAG and WCART standards.

Qualifications

Job description

As a User Experience Designer, you will design, tweak, and optimize the player experience. Your analytical skills, player insight, and creativity aid in crafting in- and out-of-game experiences that engage and surprise players. You will collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and work with every tool at hand to innovate and iterate player-focused designs that’ll delight millions around the world.

As a Senior Accessibility User Experience Designer, you will function as a part of the Central Product Accessibility team and work with product teams across the organization to drive and facilitate accessible and inclusive design. This role will collaborate with design and engineering teams to inform the creation of accessible games and experiences. The Accessibility UX Designer should have a deep knowledge of accessible game design, and will be responsible for cross-training other designers and defining requirements and best practices. This position will report to the Director of Product Accessibility.

Responsibilities:

Required Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of UX design experience
  • 3+ years of accessibility experience
  • Expert knowledge of accessible and inclusive design principles and methodologies
  • Have a strong understanding of core game design technologies (Unity, Unreal etc.)
  • Have experience with user experience software development using HTML, JavaScript, XML, CSS and other related UI technologies
  • Experience with UI prototyping tools such as Figma, Sketch or Adobe XD
  • Experience using common screen readers: JAWS, NVDA, VoiceOver
  • Experience using keyboard navigation and other assistive technology
  • Experience testing with flash-rate testing tools (eg. Harding, PEAT)
  • Knowledge and understanding of accessibility standards, principles and techniques, including (WCAG, WAI-ARIA, Section 508 C), with the ability to interpret and advise on these standards
  • Possess empathy for our diverse user and player base, a deep understanding of user-centered design, and strong analytical abilities
  • Ability to partner and collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve product goals
  • Ability to translate end-user feedback into actionable items
  • Ability to deliver training to product teams
  • Experience using task and ticket management tools (e.g. JIRA, Confluence etc)
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
Desired Qualifications:
  • Experience designing interfaces across various platforms (i.e. mobile, PC, console, etc.) with strong understanding of interaction modalities across phone, controller, keyboard, and mouse
  • Experience with accessible product, game and web design
