Klarna is seeking a US Screening Adjudication Expert to own sanctions, PEP, and adverse media screening for the US market, including 314(a) obligations. You will manage vendor relationships, perform complex investigations, and drive automation initiatives to improve throughput and accuracy.

Responsibilities span end-to-end screening, escalation management, and maintaining SOPs, with a focus on regulatory timelines and cross-border compliance. Remote-ready in the US with a dynamic fintech scope.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of hands-on US sanctions screening, PEP, or adverse media investigations.
  • Breadth across at least two screening disciplines; quickly build expertise in new areas.
  • Strong knowledge of OFAC regulations and US sanctions frameworks.
  • Familiarity with Section 314(a) of the USA PATRIOT Act and FinCEN sharing obligations.
  • Genuine curiosity about AI and automation to solve problems.
  • Excellent written communication and audit-trail documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Own the operational health of sanctions, PEP, and adverse media screening globally, and for the US, as primary contact for the outsourced vendor and Klarna's US partner bank.
  • Personally conduct alert reviews and assessments to maintain end-to-end expertise and handle volume spikes or disruptions.
  • Review sanctions alerts and internal standards, applying name-matching and contextual analysis.
  • Coordinate with the partner bank on processes and information sharing; quality-check outputs.
  • Perform complex investigations and support blocking or reporting actions in line with regulations.
  • Identify inefficiencies; design and implement improvements with vendor, Product, and Tech teams, including AI/automation.
  • Stay current on OFAC/FinCEN and EU/UN/UK regimes; propagate changes to processes.
  • Four-eyes review of 314(a) submissions and escalation of risks to Compliance/Legal.
