Job summary

Center for Global Development (CGD) in Washington, DC invites applications for a Policy Fellow or Senior Policy Fellow. The role focuses on US foreign assistance, development finance, and policy research aimed at informing and shaping policy debates.

The Fellow will design research agendas, coordinate with CGD’s policy and research networks, and supervise staff and fellows on discrete tasks, with opportunities to publish and present to broad audiences.

Qualifications

  • PhD or Master’s degree in economics, international development, public policy, or a related field, with a distinguished career and demonstrated ability to take a project to completion and to generate external financial support
  • Prominence in the program area and strong professional relationships
  • Proficiency in basic statistical analysis and experience with large datasets
  • Significant knowledge of current issues and debates in US foreign policy
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including translating complex findings for diverse audiences
  • Ability to work independently within a small, closely-knit organization and contribute to new institutions

Responsibilities

  • Design and lead a research agenda that informs policy debates and generates actionable insights
  • Support mobilization of financial resources for CGD's US development policy work
  • Engage in educational outreach, speaking engagements, blogging, and high-level interactions with donor and technical communities
  • Publish reports, papers, policy briefs, and timely commentary with quantitative findings for policymakers and the public
  • Develop and host events to showcase research findings and gather expertise
  • Contribute to colleagues' research, providing expertise and analytical support
  • Supervise and mentor associate staff, including performance management and professional development
