Job summary

City of Detroit's General Services Department seeks a Senior Associate Forester to plan and supervise forestry, horticulture, and landscape work across a city-wide area, with latitude for independent judgment.

You will issue work orders, review reports, coordinate contractors, enforce pesticide safety, manage budgets, and prepare reports; a bachelor's in forestry or related field is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in forestry or related field required.
• Four (4) years forestry/landscape experience, two years in supervision.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and supervise forestry operations by issuing work orders.
• Review reports of subordinate supervisors and advise on plans and policies.
• Inspect field progress to ensure work aligns with plans.
• Coordinate and manages contracted forestry vendors and budgets.
• Ensure pesticide applications comply with safety regulations.
• Prepare special and periodic reports on activities supervised.
