The State of Arizona Attorney General’s Office is seeking a Unit Chief Counsel in Tucson to lead the Liability Management Section. You will supervise unit attorneys and staff, assign cases, mentor colleagues, and coordinate with Risk Management to provide legal services to state agencies and employees.

Some travel within and outside Arizona is required. This senior role emphasizes strategic judgment, management of personnel matters, and collaboration with Outside Counsel to advance agency

Formación

• Extensive knowledge and experience in civil litigation, including pretrial and trial practice.
• Knowledge of statutes, case law, and court rules.
• Ability to manage high-volume, high-exposure cases.
• Ability to mentor and supervise attorneys and staff.
• Travel within and outside Arizona.

Responsabilidades

• Analyze legal issues; perform effective legal research and articulate the State's position in motions, briefs, and court.
• Directly supervise the work of unit attorneys and staff, including assigning cases and evaluating performance.
• Assist in personnel and disciplinary matters and monitor attorney workloads.
• Prepare reports and attend case evaluation meetings, depositions, and related proceedings.
• Read and analyze recent court decisions and rule changes affecting areas of practice.
