Job summary

Argo Group in the United States is seeking an Underwriting Quality Auditor to independently evaluate underwriting files for quality, consistency, and compliance. This fully onsite role collaborates with underwriting leadership to remediate gaps and drive continuous improvement.

The role requires 5+ years of underwriting experience in P&C or E&S, strong MS Office skills, and the ability to communicate findings clearly to stakeholders.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of underwriting experience with an Excess & Surplus or Property & Casualty insurance carrier.
• Ability to interpret underwriting guidelines, authority statements, appetite criteria, documentation requirements, and insurance regulations.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365, including Microsoft Excel and presentation tools.
• Strong analytical, investigative, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong written and oral communication skills, including interpersonal effectiveness, with the ability to discuss findings and influence corrective actions.
• Discipline and self-motivation to manage multiple audits, competing priorities, and deadlines with limited day-to-day supervision.

Responsibilities

• Independently plan and execute underwriting quality audits across assigned lines of business, products, or review populations.
• Audit underwriting files to assess quality, accuracy, documentation completeness, authority compliance, appetite alignment, rating execution, and adherence to underwriting guidelines and regulatory requirements.
• Evaluate the severity, impact, and root cause of underwriting errors or process gaps and recommend remediation actions.
• Document findings clearly and provide constructive feedback to underwriters, managers, and business partners.
• Identify training opportunities, process improvements, and control enhancements to reduce recurring errors.
• Prepare reports and presentations summarizing audit results and remediation status for management.
• Partner with underwriting leadership to discuss findings, validate remediation plans, and monitor improvements.
• Maintain awareness of regulatory, market, guideline, appetite, authority, and internal policy changes.
• Support internal and external audit requests and contribute to ongoing QA framework enhancements.
• Participate in departmental planning meetings and complete other projects as assigned.
