Job summary

American International Group in Chicago seeks a Senior Underwriting Assistant to support underwriting operations, screening risk submissions and handling pre/post-binding tasks. You will assist pricing, endorsements, and policy filings under underwriter guidance, serving as primary broker contact.

The role requires 3+ years in commercial insurance, strong problem solving and attention to detail, MS Office proficiency, and learning agility for ongoing development.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of commercial insurance policy forms and regulatory requirements.
• 3+ years of commercial insurance experience.
• Ability to navigate multiple proprietary, vendor, web-based, and standard systems.
• Proficient in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Willingness to learn from experiences and new situations.
• Ability to anticipate client needs and act proactively.
• Identify problems and propose appropriate solutions.
• Strong attention to detail in documentation.
• Mentor peers and support team members.

Responsibilities

• Screen new submissions to determine if risk qualifies for appetite.
• Support regional UA Manager and act as first point of contact for brokers.
• Review renewals and prepare endorsements, pricing and filings.
• Perform quality control on work from Shared Services and adjustments.
• Attend broker or client meetings as requested by underwriting.
• Assist in preparation of business and metric reports.
