Job summary

Nautilus Insurance Group, a W. R. Berkley Corporation member, seeks a Senior Underwriting Advisor for its Light Brokerage division. The role focuses on mentoring underwriters, ensuring underwriting consistency, and supporting strategic product development.

You will manage key agency relationships while underwriting a book of business and maintaining profitability through risk selection and market insights.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent required; insurance knowledge essential.
• AIS/ASLI/AU designations or related coursework preferred.
• 3+ years as a Senior Underwriter in Excess & Surplus lines.
• Strong verbal and written communication and leadership abilities.
• Understanding of E&S Light Brokerage market and workflows.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office and learning new tools as needed.
• Willingness to travel for agent visits and conventions.

Responsibilities

• Mentor and develop underwriters; ensure underwriting consistency.
• Support Light Brokerage product development and agency relationships.
• Provide leadership guidance and coaching feedback.
• Underwrite a book of business; maintain agent relationships.
• Determine risk acceptability, pricing, terms within authority.
• Collaborate with underwriting teams to ensure proper placements.
