Intrepid Direct Insurance is seeking a Senior Underwriter for Large Accounts in Overland Park, KS. This role manages a diverse, high‑value book and drives profitability while integrating data to refine underwriting decisions.

You will collaborate across underwriting, sales, and actuarial teams, contribute to product enhancements, and leverage a culture of learning from mistakes as the company grows.

Formación

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 3 years in commercial property and casualty underwriting.
• Strong data analysis to guide underwriting decisions.

Responsibilities

The Senior Underwriter, Large Accounts is a key member of our Large Account Underwriting team, responsible for evaluating and managing accounts of substantial size and technical complexity. Our team focuses on a diverse range of industries, including Restaurants, Last Mile Delivery, Auto Aftermarket, and Fitness, among others. At Intrepid we value innovation above all else. The role’s primary responsibility will be to manage their assigned book of business. In addition, you will contribute to our underwriting direction, evaluate individual account profitability, collaborate with our staff underwriting team on product enhancements, and work on projects that help drive the Underwriting department forward. Key Functions Include But Are Not Limited To

• Underwrite accounts per letter of authority - new and renewal, with minimal direction.
• Profitably underwrite its assigned book of business
• Utilize various underwriting tools to determine acceptable risk characteristics, accurate classifications, insurance to value, develop pricing, etc.
• Contribute to the refinement of underwriting processes and workflows
• Gain deep expertise in our targeted business segments.
• Support underwriting team on projects as needed
• Collaborate with our sales, client services, and actuarial teams
• Execute underwriting strategy and follow established underwriting guidelines.
• Meets or exceeds performance requirements on UW File Review Audits
• Interacts continuously with all levels of employees of various departments
• Support underwriting team on projects as needed

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
• Underwriting experience - minimum of 3 years as a company underwriter specifically in commercial property and casualty underwriting
• Has underwritten new and renewal business with success in achieving growth and profitability
• Background using data analysis to guide underwriting philosophy and decisions
• Multi-line commercial background including Property, Liability, Automobile, Umbrella, Workers Compensation, and BOPs
• Knowledge underwriting “main street” classes of business
• Build sustainable relationships of trust through open and interactive communication
• Large account underwriting experience or line of business expertise a plus
• CPCU, AU and/or other related professional designations preferred/ current progress underway
