Job description

As an Excess Casualty Underwriter, you'll play a key role in shaping Dellwood's growth by building new broker relationships and re-energizing partners who have been less active with us. Along the way, you'll manage renewals tied to those lower-engaged brokers while seeking opportunities to deepen those relationships and expand Dellwood's presence.

This role offers the chance to combine underwriting expertise with business development skills - a unique opportunity to directly influence both our broker engagement and overall growth.

Ideally, this position will be based in a Dellwood office (Alpharetta, GA, Scottsdale, AZ or Summit, NJ) for the right candidate.

  • Develop and expand broker relationships, with a focus on increasing engagement among less active partners.
  • Underwrite new submissions and handle renewals tied to lower-engaged brokers, identifying opportunities to grow Dellwood's footprint.
  • Deliver timely, accurate responses to brokers while ensuring a high level of service.
  • Analyze exposures, loss history, and account data to craft thoughtful underwriting solutions.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and leadership to provide updates on account activity, broker performance, and growth opportunities.
  • Manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment with accuracy and accountability.
Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Risk Management & Insurance, Finance, Business, or related field preferred.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word) and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, accuracy, and follow-through.
  • Highly motivated, entrepreneurial, and eager to take initiative.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills, with the ability to adapt to changing priorities.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment.
