Job summary

Farm Family is seeking an Underwriter III to review and underwrite large accounts with complex risk scenarios. This position is 100% in-office and requires working on-site during standard business hours at a designated office.

The ideal candidate has 4–6 years of underwriting experience, related education is preferred, and knowledge of P&C or farming/commercial insurance is beneficial. Certifications such as AALU/AU/AINS are valued, with progress toward designation encouraged.

Qualifications

• Four to six years of underwriting experience.
• Supervisory/management experience not applicable.
• Bachelor’s or Associate degree preferred; equivalent experience considered.
• Some P&C industry and/or Farming or Commercial industry knowledge.
• AALU, AU, AINS certification; applicable designation strongly preferred, or progress towards.

Responsibilities

• Participates in rate-making meetings and provides regional items for vetting.
• Evaluates and assesses components of a book of business and risk impact.
• Evaluates appeals and departmental audits.
• Presents to other underwriters, marketing, and agency groups.
• Coordinates with Manager, marketing, field staff, or liaison if agent performance issues persist.
• Educates, coaches and trains agents on underwriting procedures and new products.
• Provides support for agents and field management as an educator and coach.
• Assists changes in guidelines via teleconferences, webinars and in-person sessions.
• Leads smaller independent projects with cross-functional teams.
