As a Senior Underwriter, a significant proportion of your responsibilities will be production, underwriting, and servicing new business opportunities in support of the organization's strategic and business goals. You will assess individual risks, help monitor and manage the exposure trends of the company’s book, work with leadership to analyze, interpret, and develop guidelines for the underwriting team, and collaborate closely with other departments including claims, loss control, operations, and business development.

Established in 2008 and based in Sarasota, Florida, Beacon Aviation Insurance Services, an Amynta Company, offers insurance and risk management solutions to the general aviation industry. Our experience extends to a full range of general aviation businesses including Fixed Base Operators (FBOs), Maintenance Repair and Overhaul operations (MROs), Municipal Airports, Airline Services, Aviation Manufacturers and Suppliers, Charter Operators, Flight Schools, and Corporate/Industrial clients.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Seek out new account opportunities to maintain a flow of new production aligned with company goals.
  • Maintain a book of renewal business.
  • Provide excellent service by meeting account expectations and resolving issues promptly.
  • Work closely with the underwriting team and support staff, mentoring and fostering a supportive team environment.
  • Analyze, interpret, and implement underwriting goals and results with leadership.
  • Recommend underwriting guidelines to improve results.
  • Prepare reports and results for leadership.
  • Develop underwriting policies and procedures to ensure consistency and compliance with audit goals.
  • Assist with underwriting audits and implement carrier recommendations.
  • Monitor internal and external factors impacting underwriting.
  • Interact with agents and brokers via phone, email, and in person, managing broker relations.
  • Ensure processes meet or exceed customer service expectations.
  • Update and oversee underwriting reports.
  • Understand company, bureau, state rules, and filings.
  • Research industry conditions, pricing, coverage strategies, and business developments.
  • Assist with sales forecasts, company goals, and attend industry conferences.
  • Represent the brand and enhance the company’s reputation in the marketplace.
  • Maintain professionalism and high ethical standards.

Desired Skills and Abilities:

  • Experience in aviation insurance and commercial underwriting.
  • Professional Designations such as CPCU, AU, or CAIP preferred.
  • College degree and/or 5-7 years of insurance market experience.
  • Strong communication, analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other systems.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team, with good judgment in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proactive, interpersonal skills, and professionalism.
  • Client service focus.
