Career Opportunity with FCE Benefits Administrators

The Senior Underwriter is responsible for the accurate and timely analysis of data and financials related to underwriting and financial projects. This includes the pricing and oversight of Medical, Stop Loss, and ancillary products for both fully insured and self-funded plans. The role also involves ensuring regulatory compliance and overseeing the workflow of underwriting professionals, supporting company operations by maintaining office systems and supervising staff.

Responsibilities:
  1. Develop new business and renewal proposals, including stop loss proposals and comprehensive client renewals.
  2. Perform performance and utilization analyses to identify trends in claims experience, supporting future proposals and renewals.
  3. Oversee the work of assigned analysts, including project assignment and workflow management.
  4. Monitor management reports related to office performance.
  5. Audit analysts' work for liabilities and adherence to company standards.
  6. Resolve errors and handle complaints.
  7. Support the organization’s quality programs.
  8. Schedule and assign employees to meet operational requirements.
  9. Administer company policies and adhere to staffing standards and training recommendations.
  10. Enhance team performance by developing strategies to improve productivity.
  11. Review and analyze special projects, keeping management informed.
Requirements:
  1. High level of underwriting knowledge, especially in medical or stop loss underwriting.
  2. Excellent oral and written communication skills, including presentation abilities.
  3. Expertise in Excel.
  4. Strong analytical and interpretive skills.
  5. Attention to detail and organizational skills.
  6. Interpersonal and customer service skills.
  7. Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize effectively.
  8. Teamwork capability.
  9. Ability to meet or exceed performance standards.
Experience:
  • Minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
