Job summary

Compass Minerals seeks a Senior Underground Mining Engineer to lead underground mine planning, design, ventilation, and infrastructure, ensuring safe and sustainable operations. You will develop short-term, mid-range, and life-of-mine plans while mentoring engineers and coordinating with operations, geology, and safety teams.

The role emphasizes collaboration, continuous improvement, budgeting support, and delivering planning recommendations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mining/related field.
• 5+ years of underground mining planning experience.
• Strong leadership and mentoring abilities.
• Proficiency with planning, surveying, ventilation and data analysis tools.

Responsibilities

• Lead development and optimization of short-term, mid-range, and life-of-mine plans.
• Develop mine designs, sequencing strategies, pillar layouts, and infrastructure plans.
• Evaluate geotechnical, ventilation, equipment, and operational constraints to maximize resource recovery.
• Monitor plan performance through reporting, reconciliation, and variance analysis.
• Prepare and present mine schedules, technical reports, and planning recommendations.
• Partner with operations and safety teams to align planning with business objectives.
• Lead planning reviews, risk assessments, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and capital planning activities.
• Provide technical leadership and mentoring for engineers, surveyors, technicians, and contractors.
• Oversee ventilation systems, mine infrastructure, and geotechnical monitoring.
