Job summary

Compass Minerals America Inc. seeks a Principal Mine Planning Engineer to act as the senior technical authority for underground mine planning, ensuring safe, practical, and compliant short-term to life‑of‑mine plans.

You will lead multidisciplinary teams to integrate geology, ventilation, and utilities, and translate strategy into executable execution plans. This role requires guiding design, monitoring systems, and coordinating with operations to optimize production, safety, and capital

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Mining Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Geology, or related field.
10 years of progressive underground mining experience with increasing responsibility.
Expertise in short-term, mid-range, and life-of-mine planning for underground operations.
Advanced proficiency in mine planning methods and design support, not just software use.
Proficiency in mine planning tools and related software like Deswik, Maptek, Leica Geosystems, GPS, VnetPC, Ventsim, AggFlow.
Strong data literacy; experience querying databases and building dashboards in Power BI.

Responsibilities

Serve as the senior technical authority for underground mine planning and provide independent technical direction for plan horizons.
Lead and mentor engineers, surveyors, technicians, interns, and contractors in mine planning.
Develop and govern mine plans that integrate geology, ventilation, utilities, equipment, and constraints.
