Job summary

SteelCon is seeking an experienced Level II Ultrasonic Shear Wave (UTSW) Technician to support nondestructive testing and inspection of welded steel components in a structural fabrication setting.

You will set up, calibrate, and operate ultrasonic testing equipment, interpret results, document findings, and help ensure weld quality and code compliance. Collaboration with production and quality teams is essential to maintain inspection integrity.

Qualifications

• Current Level II qualification/certification in Ultrasonic Testing (UT) with demonstrated shear-wave experience.
• Experience performing ultrasonic shear-wave examination of structural steel welds.
• Ability to read fabrication drawings, weld symbols, inspection plans, specifications and NDT procedures.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to document inspection results clearly.

Responsibilities

• Perform Ultrasonic Shear Wave Testing (UTSW) of welded steel components per codes and procedures.
• Set up, calibrate, and operate ultrasonic testing equipment.
• Interpret UT results and determine acceptance or rejection per criteria.
• Prepare clear NDT inspection reports and maintain traceable records.
• Communicate inspection results to Quality and Production teams.
