Job summary

Baxter International Inc. is seeking a UX Designer to apply standard UX design principles to new or enhanced software products, with a focus on visual design and a design language system in Figma. The role requires travel to Baxter and customer sites and a solid understanding of UX principles.

Ideal candidates have 3+ years of experience, strong Figma skills, and the ability to document UI designs and collaborate across cross-functional teams in a regulated medical device environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Human Factors or related field, or equivalent.
• 3+ years of related work experience.
• Ability to travel to Baxter and/or customer sites and meet hospital credentialing requirements.
• Solid understanding of UX design principles.
• Experience using UI design and prototyping tools, especially advanced Figma skills, including creating and using components, variables, auto-layout, and themes.
• Passion for improving user experiences and advocating on behalf of the user and UX standard processes.
• Ability to explain and document UI designs and decisions, both verbally and in written form.
• Experience with medical device or other regulated fields preferred.

Responsibilities

• Create user friendly interface designs, adhering to established UI design standards and practices, including Baxter design patterns and guidelines, W3C guidelines, Google Material Design guidelines, Apple Human Interface Guidelines, and Android Design Guidelines.
• Participate in customer interviews, interactions, and other user research to identify customer needs and wants.
• Create UI prototypes, which may be used for testing or marketing purposes.
• Participate in usability research, including creating test plans and scripts, moderating usability test sessions, and writing final reports.
• Document user experience designs and specifications.
• Provide UX and design input to cross functional teams, including recommendations for product and process improvements based on UX expertise and knowledge.
• Act independently with minimal supervision. Apply project team engineering methodologies and tools to manage work and communicate across teams and specialties.
