Job summary

Anduril Industries is seeking a Senior Configuration Design Engineer to own the architectural configuration for Group 5 UAS and missile programs. You will guide design processes, mentor engineers, and partner with Chief Engineers and customers to translate requirements into buildable aircraft architectures.

You will define sizing methods, use design optimization tools, and lead trade studies while ensuring structural feasibility and LO considerations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in Aerospace, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
• 8+ years of experience in conceptual or preliminary design of aerospace systems with leadership on UAS or missile programs.
• Expert-level proficiency in 3D parametric CAD, advanced surfacing, and lofting (NX preferred, CATIA or Creo).
• Extensive experience leading multi-disciplinary design teams and trade studies.
• Deep understanding of system architecture, mission requirements, and full product development lifecycles.
• Strong communication and presentation skills for technical proposals and leadership reviews.
• Eligible to obtain and maintain a U.S. Secret Security Clearance.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end conceptual design for UAVs and missiles, including trade studies and architecture selection.
• Define sizing methodologies and use MATLAB/Isight/HEEDS/NX for design paths.
• Drive Outer/Inner Mold Line design, establishing GD&T standards for downstream teams.
• Serve as technical decision-maker for early-stage pursuits and customer proposals.
• Evaluate configurations for LO survivability, propulsion integration, and structural feasibility.
• Manage high-level vehicle trade studies including engine, control layout, and mass properties.
• Mentor junior engineers and standardize CAD modeling and design release.
• Interface with IPTs, suppliers, and customers to present concepts and resolve problems.
