Job summary

Creative Innovation Inc in California seeks a Senior Customs Specialist to manage in-house U.S. import operations, coordinating documentation, clearance, and duty payments with brokers and internal teams. You will ensure accurate HTS classifications and smooth cargo release, working hands-on with ACE.

The role requires Mandarin and English proficiency, strong attention to detail, and the ability to handle multiple time-sensitive tasks on-site. U.S. work authorization is required.

Qualifications

• At least three years of hands-on experience in U.S. import customs clearance or in-house customs operations.
• Strong practical knowledge of U.S. customs duty declarations, entry corrections, duty payments, refunds, and drawback procedures.
• Hands-on experience with ACE and relevant customs filing systems, including reviewing entry records, tracking filing status, and reconciling duty information.
• Working knowledge of HTS classification, customs valuation, country-of-origin requirements, and applicable duties and tariffs.
• Ability to independently manage daily customs operations, resolve discrepancies, and coordinate complex clearance issues with customs brokers.
• Proficiency in Mandarin Chinese and English for daily business communication and documentation.
• Strong attention to detail, accountability, communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple time-sensitive tasks.
• Must have valid authorization to work in the United States and be available to work on-site. Remote work is not available.
• This is an in-house customs operations position. A U.S. Customs Broker License is not required.

Responsibilities

• Handle in-house U.S. import customs operations, coordinating documentation, customs clearance, duty payments, and cargo release with customs brokers and internal teams.
• Review commercial invoices, packing lists, bills of lading, HTS classifications, declared values, and country of origin to ensure accurate and consistent customs information.
• Coordinate customs duty declarations, entry corrections, duty refunds, and drawback claims as applicable. Prepare supporting documents, review filing records, and track each case through completion.
• Use the ACE and relevant customs filing systems to review entry status, duty information, and clearance records. Maintain accurate internal tracking records.
• Reconcile duty payments, customs statements, and broker charges, and investigate discrepancies with customs brokers and finance teams.
• Independently follow up on customs examinations, cargo holds, documentation requests, and clearance delays, coordinating with relevant parties to resolve issues.
• Monitor changes in U.S. customs requirements and tariff policies, assess their impact on daily operations, and communicate relevant updates internally.
• Maintain customs documentation and refund records, support internal compliance reviews, and provide operational guidance to internal teams.
