Job summary

Disney in Baton Rouge is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to develop tvOS applications. You will contribute to a fast-paced, collaborative team building Disney apps across major platforms, including ESPN, Disney, Marvel, ABC, and National Geographic.

The role requires strong Swift and OO design, web service knowledge, and experience with iOS development lifecycles, Apple frameworks, and CI workflows. A BS/BA in CS or engineering is expected, with up to 2 years of hands-on Apple development

Qualifications

• Experience working on a large consumer app currently available in the marketplace.
• Strong knowledge of OO and Swift design patterns.
• Solid knowledge of HTTP and RESTful web services.
• Proven ability to design and build dynamic multi-threaded mobile apps.
• Strong knowledge of iOS app development lifecycle including App Store compliance and submission requirements.
• Proficiency with Apple frameworks including UIKit, AVFoundation, Security, and StoreKit.
• Ability to collaborate in a small, efficient development team and work independently.
• Experience with Agile development and using GitHub or GitLab.
• Experience with unit test frameworks and CI systems.
• Self-starter with ability to learn new technologies.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to write clean, reliable, maintainable code.
• BS, BA or advanced degree in computer science, engineering or equivalent.
• Up to 2+ years hands-on Apple development experience across OS versions.

Responsibilities

• Hands-on engineering developing tvOS packages in rapid iterations with some Objective-C.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, engineers, web builders and content creators to expand Disney apps.
• Architect reusable solutions shared across DMED apps.
• Support engineering team for ESPN, Disney, Marvel, ABC, and National Geographic apps.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues across diverse systems.
• Analyze and optimize utility code for performance and reliability.
• Understand product structure and support software architects as needed.
• Handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Promote a collaborative team culture with strong coding practices.
• Mentor junior engineers and foster knowledge sharing.
