Job summary

Parsons is seeking a Tunnel Inspector - Rail and Transit to join our team on a major infrastructure program in the Newark/New York area. You will perform daily inspections of excavation and shaft activities, ensuring compliance with design, drawings, and safety standards, and coordinate testing with contractors and stakeholders.

The role requires extensive on-site work, a strong background in heavy civil construction and tunneling, and a commitment to safety and quality.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma and an associate/bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline or equivalent work experience.
• 10+ years of related experience in heavy construction projects, with focus on large shafts and excavation.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily site inspections of excavation and shaft activities perSpecifications, safety standards, and engineering plans.
• Verify excavation practices align with tunneling and shaft design requirements and with drawings.
• Coordinate independent testing and contractor/subs field operations.
• Enforce on-site safety standards, OSHA compliance, and site-specific safety plans.
