Job summary

Massachusetts Water Resources Authority seeks a senior design manager to oversee tunnel program engineering, design, and construction, directing professional staff and consultants to meet MWRA objectives and schedules.

You will review designs, manage permits, and coordinate with MWRA divisions and regulatory agencies to deliver major water infrastructure projects with a strong focus on safety, quality, and efficiency.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil, environmental, or geotechnical engineering or related field.
• 11+ years in environmental/engineering design, project management, and/or construction with 5+ years in management.
• Equivalent combinations of education/experience welcomed.
• Massachusetts Class D license or out-of-state equivalent.
• Massachusetts PE license preferred; PMP preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead design manager for tunnel systems, overseeing schedules and budgets.
• Manage consultant selection, scopes, cost estimates, and contract awards.
• Supervise multi-disciplinary design work on large projects with independent judgment.
• Oversee consultants' work for quality, budget, and compliance with MWRA terms.
• Review final design, connections to MWRA systems, permits, and contract docs.
• Perform engineering analysis and prepare project reports.
• Coordinate with MWRA senior staff and external agencies.
• Develop schedules for engineering/design, procurement, construction, and commissioning.
