Job summary

Northern Trust seeks an experienced attorney with broad expertise in trusts, estates, guardianship and transfer taxes to join the Trust Counsel Practice Group in Florida. The role reports to the manager and works with Wealth Management and internal partners on fiduciary matters.

Responsibilities include reviewing and advising on Will/trust documents, estate settlements, and complex trust issues while managing risk and ensuring compliance. Hybrid work model offered.

Qualifications

• J.D. degree from an accredited law school and admission to practice in Florida.
• Extensive experience in trusts, estates, guardianship and transfer taxes.
• Ability to advise across fiduciary matters with strong analytical skills.

Responsibilities

• Review and analyze Will and trust agreements when the bank is named fiduciary.
• Provide legal counsel on trust documents, estate settlements, and related matters.
• Advise internal partners on fiduciary risk and compliance issues.
• Assess proposals to modify or terminate trusts in collaboration with leadership.
• Represent the bank in trust and estate litigation oversight and coordination.
• Promote the bank at industry and client events; educate Wealth Management partners.
