Job summary

Canal Insurance Company, based in Greenville, SC, seeks a Senior Liability Claims Adjuster to analyze and adjust litigated, moderate to severe commercial claims. The role requires verifying coverage on new losses and deciding on complex coverage matters with Claims Legal.

Responsibilities include managing budgets, directing investigations with adjusters and attorneys, and maintaining reserves while guiding less-experienced staff. Travel and additional duties may be required.

Qualifications

• Minimum 7 years adjusting bodily injury claims with a bachelor’s degree or 10 years of claims handling experience.
• Leadership or training experience is preferred.
• Experience adjusting trucking/transportation liability and commercial auto claims is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Verify coverage as new losses are received.
• Collaborate with Claims Legal on complex coverage; draft Reservation of Rights and denial letters.
• Adjust high-exposure cases, investigate, negotiate, document and settle within authority.
• Manage litigation budgets and participate in mediations/trials with attorneys.
• Coordinate with independent adjusters and attorneys for field investigations.
• Establish and maintain reserves; report to management as needed.
• Serve as a training resource for team members.
