Job summary

J&R Schugel Trucking, Inc. seeks a Lead Truck Technician to oversee the shop, diagnose and repair trucks and trailers, and mentor technicians on the shift. You will schedule maintenance, ensure compliance with FMCSR/DOT standards, and promote safety across the team.

The role requires at least 5 years in diesel truck maintenance with supervisory experience, own tools, and a strong commitment to safety and quality workmanship. CDL-A is preferred; MnDOT certs may be pursued.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of experience repairing and maintaining diesel engines, trucks, and trailers.
• Minimum 2 years of supervisory experience in a medium-to-large shop.
• Must have own tools.
• CDL Class A strongly desired; MnDOT certification preferred, with willingness to obtain.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate shop operations for the shift, including scheduling and prioritizing repairs and maintenance.
• Ensure all company trucks and equipment are safe, operable, and maintained to company and regulatory standards.
• Maintain accurate documentation of work orders, repairs, and preventative maintenance for the shift.
• Stay current on technologies and best practices used in truck and trailer maintenance.
• Set repair expectations for the shift and ensure all work is completed by established deadlines.
• Promote a culture of safety in the shop and ensure adherence to safety policies.
