Job Description

The Senior Trial Attorney represents insured individuals and the Company in defending bodily injury and property damage lawsuits, subrogation, and more. The role involves preparing for and conducting hearings, trials, arbitrations, mediations, and depositions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Represent insured individuals and the Company in defending bodily injury and property damage lawsuits, subrogation, and Allstate Financial cases.
  • Prepare thoroughly for and conduct hearings, trials, arbitrations, mediations, and depositions.
  • Prepare and present pre- and post-trial motions effectively.
  • Assist colleagues in resolving calendar conflicts collaboratively.
  • Offer counsel to business clients on legal matters.
  • Manage projects efficiently, fostering coordination among legal teams.
  • Stay abreast of new laws, regulations, and case law; identify and summarize relevant issues; collaborate with the Law and Regulation department; advise business units on legal impacts; monitor legal representation.

Education

  • Juris Doctorate and active membership in good standing with the Michigan state bar.

Minimum Requirements

  • 5+ years of proven litigation experience or strong litigation skills, including case strategy, research, and advocacy, with the ability to manage complex disputes under pressure.
  • First or second chair jury trial experience preferred.
  • Proven experience with insurance defense preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, LexisNexis (preferred), and internet research.
  • Strong teamwork skills for effective collaboration.
  • Capacity to manage a substantial case load.
  • Comfortable working remotely and willing to travel throughout the greater Detroit area.

Compensation

Annual salary ranges from $85,600 to $152,650, based on experience and qualifications.

The candidate will be required to submit to a background investigation.
