Travelers is seeking a Senior Counsel in New York to independently handle high-exposure cases and complex litigation, leveraging extensive trial experience to advocate for insured clients and the company. The role requires superior writing and oral advocacy, with collaboration across teams and mentoring of junior attorneys.

You will manage key client relationships, collaborate with experts, and use technology to optimize case handling, delivering exceptional outcomes.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of insurance defense litigation experience as a practicing attorney.
• Strong aptitude for trying cases to a jury; track record of litigating jury trials.
• Advanced oral and written advocacy skills; success in summary judgment and/or appellate matters.
• In-depth knowledge of bench, bar, and local jurisdictional practices.
• Ability to mentor and lead other attorneys and staff.

Responsibilities

• Independently handle a caseload of higher exposure cases and complex litigation.
• Conduct advanced legal research and craft persuasive writing and arguments.
• Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, and discovery documents.
• Attend hearings, trials, depositions, and court events.
• Provide case analysis and strategy recommendations to clients and partners.
• Mentor junior attorneys and legal staff.
• Collaborate with experts to develop case strategies and testimony.
• Utilize case management systems and technology effectively.
