Job summary

Dallas County, Texas seeks an attorney to perform legal assignments with minimal supervision across various case types. You will evaluate cases, provide legal advice, relay plea offers, and represent clients in jury trials and hearings while coordinating with clients, judges, prosecutors and court staff.

Responsibilities include interviewing clients and witnesses, drafting motions, presenting evidence, negotiating pleas, and training junior attorneys.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited law school with a Texas license to practice law.
• One year of legal experience required.

Responsibilities

• Evaluates appointed cases by reviewing docs, researching law, interviewing clients and witnesses.
• Interviews clients; discusses facts, defenses, and procedures.
• Explains legal process to witnesses and prepares them for testimony.
• Drafts, files and responds to motions, briefs, or other documents.
• Gathers and presents evidence and exhibits for trial or hearing.
• Represents clients in trials/hearings; conducts jury selection and openings/closings.
• Participates in plea negotiations and ensures signature filings.
• Maintains client files, trial notebook, and caseload statistics.
• Trains or assists Attorneys I and II.
