Qualifications

  • One year of legal experience required.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluates appointed cases by reviewing docs, researching law, interviewing clients and witnesses.
  • Interviews clients; discusses facts, defenses, and procedures.
  • Explains legal process to witnesses and prepares them for testimony.
  • Drafts, files and responds to motions, briefs, or other documents.
  • Gathers and presents evidence and exhibits for trial or hearing.
  • Represents clients in trials/hearings; conducts jury selection and openings/closings.
  • Participates in plea negotiations and ensures signature filings.
  • Maintains client files, trial notebook, and caseload statistics.
  • Trains or assists Attorneys I and II.
