Selective Insurance Company of America in New Jersey seeks an Executive Trial Attorney for its Hamilton, Roseland or Marlton Staff Counsel Office. The attorney will manage a litigation caseload across civil defense matters, including commercial general liability and automobile liability, handling complex cases with high exposure.

The role requires a JD, NJ Bar admission, and at least 15 years of experience; leadership and superb writing and oral communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor from ABA accredited law school required.
• Member in good standing of the Bar of New Jersey required.
• At least 15 years legal experience in the jurisdiction required.
• Trial of at least 15 matters to conclusion preferred.
• Management experience is preferred.

Responsabilités

• Prepares and tries complex, high exposure cases to conclusion before judges, juries and other triers of fact.
• Dictates/prepares pleadings, motions, briefs, letters, memoranda, reports, articles, etc. using the Company’s legal case management software.
• Communicates with the client and claims personnel regarding status of pending matters and coordinates with opposing counsel and courts.
• Researches issues using Westlaw and other resources to support defense strategies.
• Oversees the work of assigned Senior and Trial Attorneys and provides supervisory guidance.
• Prepares pleadings, discovery, motions, and briefs in support of defense strategies and handles trials/appeals as assigned.
