CHRISTUS Health is seeking a Trauma Registrar Senior to support the Trauma Registry with data entry, coding, and reporting. The role contributes to performance improvement and epidemiological studies within the Trauma Program.

The position requires accuracy in data abstraction, coding (ICD-10/AIS), and maintaining confidentiality, with responsibilities including training new staff and preparing regional reports.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Trauma Registry software training must be completed within 90 days of employment.
• ICD-10 course in trauma; must be renewed every 5 years.

Responsibilities

• Meets expectations of CHRISTUS OneCHRISTUS competencies.
• Provides clerical, statistical and informational support to the Trauma Service.
• Maintains a trauma registry database for easy retrieval of statistics.
• Abstracts requisite data and enters into the registry based on trauma criteria.
• Performs ICD-10 and AIS coding for trauma cases.
• Updates registry records per designation, standards and program policies.
• Analyzes registry data for epidemiology and reporting purposes.
• Prepares and files reports and correspondence per trauma center protocols.
• Precepts new registry staff and participates in ongoing education.
