Job summary

Georgia Department of Transportation is seeking an experienced Area Engineer-level professional to supervise roadway and bridge construction projects in a Construction Area. You will oversee planning, organize personnel, monitor progress, and ensure compliance with plans, specs, and contract provisions.

The role requires advanced knowledge of roadway construction, strong leadership, and experience with contract documentation and cost monitoring.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field plus two years of related experience, OR Associate's degree plus three years, OR one year of experience at position equivalent.
• Three years’ experience as Project Manager.
• Advance-level experience on complex roadway/highway projects (widening, interchanges, bridges).
• Experience as a lead worker or supervisor.
• Extensive knowledge of roadway/highway construction specs and standards.
• Experience preparing contract diaries, reports, and correspondence.
• Understanding of English and metric systems and their interrelationship.
• Experience measuring quantities and computing pay statements for subordinates.
• Ability to visualize a complete construction project from plans and perform algebraic/ geometric calculations.
• Ability to monitor construction costs and read blueprints.
