Job summary

Fehr & Peers in Washington is seeking an experienced transportation planning/engineering consultant with 8–12 years of experience to help grow the Tacoma office. The role combines project delivery with business development, leveraging established relationships in the South Puget Sound and Central Washington markets.

The position follows a hybrid schedule with at least three days per week in the Tacoma office, and offers opportunities to mentor staff, lead cross-functional teams, and contribute

Qualifications

• Approximately 8–12 years of transportation planning or engineering consulting experience.
• Experience leading complex transportation projects from proposal through delivery.
• Experience developing client relationships and contributing to practice growth through business development and repeat work.
• Established relationships with Washington State/local agencies, institutions, developers, and private sector organizations.
• Strong communication, presentation, facilitation, and relationship-building skills.
• A collaborative leadership style with mentoring abilities.
• Professional registration (PE or AICP, as appropriate).
• Openness to adopting new technologies and tools with sound judgment.

Responsibilities

• Lead transportation planning and engineering projects from pursuit through delivery, as the primary client contact.
• Manage a variety of projects including corridor studies, analyses, multimodal plans, and environmental review.
• Build relationships with public agencies, clients, developers, and partners in the region.
• Identify and pursue new business opportunities and contribute to proposals and interviews.
• Collaborate with leadership to grow Fehr & Peers' presence in the local market.
• Mentor staff and foster high-performing project teams.
